#2 - Kit Design Competition - Stafford Rangers (closed)

So, long overdue, DesignFootball.com has its second kit design competition. This time with a twist. The English football team Stafford Rangers have asked us to submit designs for consideration for their 2009/10 home and away kits.

The club are already viewing designs from manufacturers but are keen to see what DesignFootball.com members can come up with. If both Stafford Rangers and their chosen manufacturer decide that a design from DF is the most suitable then it will be produced for the playing squad and fans. Should this be the case then the successful designer(s) will receive an example of their shirt as a prize.

The away kit is inspired by the widely used chevron design by many teams in the old days. However, the touch of modern design in this kit lies with the colours used. Description: The colour of the away jersey is mainly sky blue with white shorts and socks. The white socks and socks were designed to provide an added alternative as the change set of shorts and socks for the home jersey. Like the concept of the home jersey, the away jersey also adopts the ‘retro modern’ concept particularly in the black and white panel on the left side of the chest. The panel was designed in such a way that the Stafford Rangers FC’s emblem is placed at the pinnacle, as opposed to many kits which had used such designs usually running down the whole length of the jersey. The placement of the black and white colours on the panel follows the traditional colours on the Stafford Rangers FC’s emblem. This unique design represents the club’s philosophies and struggles being upheld by the supporters with utmost pride. The blue trims used in the home kit are also repeated in the away jersey. Firstly; as the home kit main colour is black (black shorts and socks), white was mainly used as a contrast to the black colour so that the players will be more visible during match days. Secondly; the two black stripes on the shirt were inspired from the two black lines on a badger’s head (Stafford Rangers FC’s mascot). The V collar and the sleeves’ bands designs have a black stripe running down on white base to reflect on the classic ‘retro modern’ look on the jersey.
