Flag Based International Kit Competition (CLOSED)
(61)
- Hits: 8706
-
I have always appreciated kits with dramatic elements of the national flag, and enjoyed creating my own fantasy versions. I would therefore love to see how the rest of the DF community would approach the challenge.
Rules.
You may post either home or away kits, though they must follow the typical colours of the nation. eg. Germany play in white so therefore, a purely red black and yellow home shirt would not be eligible as a home.
There is no reason to stick to the manufacturer of your chosen country, fantasy brands are allowed.
Must be of International teams, though not necessarily FIFA affiliated. Teams such as Catalonia are eligible.
Extra credit will be awarded to attention of detail and national culture and heritage.
Alternative flags are accepted, such as Spiderbait's flag of Burgandy Spain kit.
No limit on number of entries.
There must be more elements of the flag in the kit besides colours, though creative adaption is encouraged!
All kits must be void of sponsors, and feature a crest and manufacturer logo on the shirt and shorts (incorporating them is part of the challenge), a name and number on the back, and a number on the front and shorts.
Details.
I will vote for a first, second and third placed winner, soon after the closing date of Friday January 25th at 23:59 GMT. This may be extended subject to popularity.
All DF members are eligible, bar myself. Get your patriotic heads, and get designing, I look forward to seeing your entries!
Julian121
This competition is now closed. I certainly have my work cut out deciding from the amount of kits that have been posted. Thankyou for your entries, and I will announce the winners shortly.
RESULTS
3rd - myki: Germany. A wonderfully bold, 'splattered paint' flag interrupts an otherwise classy kit. One of the best adaptions of the flag in the competition.
2nd - visualsportdesign: Macedonia (Red Shorts). The best kit of the competition in which the designer has covered the entire shirt with the flag, as was done many times. Though his later entry without a Portuguese Armillary Sphere on the inside collar may be more accurate ( :P ), I think that the red shorts make the kit look that much more intimidating.
1st - Spider: Ethiopia. A lot of research has obviously gone in to finding a flag to use, and a large level of ingenuity into adapting it to the kit. It fits very nicely with the painted number and name, and the level of detail such as the calia lilies and watermarked walia give the kit that much more individuality and a real sense of national pride. Very well done.
Honourable Mentions.
Martin127's classy kits for Ethiopia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. CiaranW90's inspired use of the v neck collar to construct the flag in his Palestine Kit. Rey's great looking striped yoke on his Catalonia shirt.
Again, thank you all so much for your entries, it was very tough deciding the eventual winners as there was so many great entries. Keep on entering all the other comps open at the moment, and keep featuring all your great work!

Morocco African Cup of Nations competition. (closed)

-
THIS COMPETITION WILL BEGIN ON 5th JAN, AND END ON 19TH JAN (THE DAY MOROCCO START THEIR ACoN AGAINST ANGOLA)
While Puma give African teams kits full of heritage, innovative designs and wonderful paint effects, their German rivals are seemingly content to give African nations shirts straight from the teamwear section of a catalogue, as demonstrated by the shirts worn by Morocco, the 1976 African Cup of Nations winners, and the hosts of the 2015 competition.
As the hosts of the 2015 competition, and contenders for the 2013, this competition is to design a set of kits for the 2013 and 2015 cup of nations.
The rules -
Manufacturer - adidas
All kits must have number on front of shirt and shorts, and on back of shirt.
All kits must have name of back of shirt.
Morocco have for most of their history played in red as their first choice colour, but have played in Green as first choice. Their change shirts have been white for much of their history.
The competition start date will be 5th of January, and will end on the 19th of January, where the kits will be marked out of 15th and the winner will be announced.
Spider
Update - 1/2/13:
I've picked four kits that I thought represented Morocco the best:- Taggo- CurswineI have picked a winner out of the four best kits...And the winner is...The Zelij pattern on the side of the shirt and the Star on the front of the shirt work very well together, and it looks imposing, individual and would give the Moroccan team real identity. Well done Fenton.Spider

Tottenham Hotspur 2012-13 Under Armour Yellow Fourth (4th) Kit Competition (closed)
(22)
- Hits: 5770
-
Something I've talked about in my blog and has also been discussed at length on TrueColoursFootballKits.com is the issue that Tottenham Hotspur don't really have a suitable kit to avoid a clash with their hosts, West Bromwich Albion, at The Hawthorns, on 2nd February 2013.
Various solutions have been discussed, including West Brom changing to navy shorts and socks, Spurs wearing their full navy Away kit with West Brom wearing white baselayers, Spurs wearing one of their goalkeeper kits outfield and, finally, Spurs releasing a yellow Fourth kit for that game.
It wouldn't be the first time it has happened so I'd like to see what DF members could come up with. Spurs have a great tradition of wearing yellow Away kits, which you can find on HistoricalKits.co.uk.
Looking for designs of yellow kits, including shirt, shorts and socks and, if you see fit, baselayers - perhaps with elements interchangeable with the other kits. The manufacturer should be Under Armour and the sponsor Aurasma.
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.
The competition will close at 23:59 on Saturday 5th January 2013 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.
Happy designing!

Update - 8/1/13: The competition is now closed and I have chosen my winner.
This competition, despite being relatively short, has been one of the most difficult to judge from those I've opened. The standard of entries was extremely high and one of six or seven designs could quite easily have won.
It was fascinating to see how different designers approached the challenge. To make things easier, I ruled out entries which contained a significant amount of black/navy. As the purpose was to avoid a clash with West Brom, the light/dark approach could have caused problems so, despite there being some great efforts in that style, I looked elsewhere.
Several people looked to specific kits from the past, and denishurley, Steevo and Fenton brought the memories flooding back. Another tack, which we've seen on fantasy Dortmund kits recently, was to use different yellows together as giannakakis - incorporating a gradient - arius85, DJoletino and matte1897 - with an existing Under Armour/Spurs template nicely adapted - demonstrated expertly.
The most Under Armour-like entirely original design was surely that of Taggo. If Spurs do release a Fourth kit for the West Brom game - fingers crossed - then it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if it ended up looking quite similar to Taggo's entry.
In the end the competition was so hard to judge that I decided to simply choose the shirt that I'd be most likely to buy and wear. Whilst so many designs would look great on the pitch, erikwinterburn's classic take on a Spurs yellow kit - particularly the shirt - was one that had that timeless quality without being boring.
So congratulations to erikwinterburn, as the winner of the competition, but also to all those who took to the time to buy into the concept. Well done.

Novelty Christmas Kit Competition (closed)
(13)
- Hits: 2936
-
As a quick just-for-fun competition, I was thinking that the German tradition (Dortmund, Werder Bremen?) of releasing very temporary Christmas kits at this time of year was worth exploring.
Looking for designs of kits, including shirt, shorts and socks and, if you see fit, baselayers, and crests. Any team, any manufacturer, any sponsor - you can surely have some fun with that - anything goes.
Jay29ers.
Update - 8/1/13: The competition has now closed and I've chosen my winner.
Despite not too many designers getting involved, there was a decent array of entries which were both imaginative and informative.
Using artistic licence regarding the term "Christmas", Spider gave us both a kit celebrating the African-American observance of Kwanzaa and one representing the Jewish festival of Chanuka/Hanukkah.
As a late entry, it was also good to see the return of Corstorph with his Fair Isle jumper-styled Inverness kit. I'm sure Errea have indeed taken note, and decided to never release anything like that. It may well be their loss.
But by far, the member who embraced the competition the most was Rey. He taught us about O Apalador, gave us a Times Square Ball New York Red Bulls shirt and provided what I think is the best, and indeed winning, Christmas Kit design, in the form of a discrete Real Madrid shirt, complete with snowflakes and lower profile adidas logo and sponsor. We've seen the technique before but the mix of white and silver really evoked the time of year just passed and was an understated approach to an idea that may usually be tackled in a more garish way.
Very well done to all who entered. I apologise for the late closure and announcement but it's not just Madridistas that celebrate the Festival of the Kings!

adidas Brazuca Matchball (World Cup 2014) Design Competition (closed)
(8)
- Hits: 3724
-
Fifa has announced that the football for the next World Cup, in Brazil in 2014, will be called the "adidas Brazuca".
So this competition is to create the design for the new ball including, if you see fit, a special edition version for the final. It's just-for-fun, the ball won't get made and it's in no way affiliated to Fifa, adidas or the World Cup organisers but it's worth having a go all the same.
For obvious reasons all entries should have adidas as manufacturer but everything else is up to you. White with black or multi-coloured? Gold for the final version? As usual, anything goes, and don't worry about the physics of it - we'll leave adidas to try to get that right this time.
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and, if there somehow are designs already uploaded to the DF galleries, they are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.
The competition will close at 23:59 on Saturday 22nd September 2012 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.
Happy designing!
Jay29ers.
Update - 23/9/12: This competition is being extended due to the small amount of entries so far. No closing date will be put on the competition until there are sufficient entries to announce a deadline.
Update - 26/12/12: This long-running competition will finally close at 23:59 on Saturday 5th January 2013 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.
Update - 8/1/13: Finally, this competition is closed. I asked for something a little bit different to the other competitions and although there were only a modest number of entries, we saw some great ideas.
As altra says in the description for his impressive effort, he "wanted to try out designing a sphere and it's pretty damn hard!"
So MartinLeRoy deserves extra credit, and the winner's spoils, for firstly coming up with a fantastic design, apparently an evolution from the Jabulani but with unmistakably original and very imaginative features, then a special World Cup Final version, and then the standard version viewable in 3D and rotatable. A worthy winner I'm sure everyone will agree.

Borussia Dortmund Treble Winning Kit/Logo Competition (closed)
(52)
- Hits: 13668
-
After being really impressed by Dortmund's performance in the Bundesliga over the last two seasons and in the Champions League group stages these season I (ehrenfest) thought it would interesting to have a competition to make a new kit. The scenario is that Dortmund have just won the 2013 Champions League in Wembley after winning their third Budesliga on the trot and the DFB Pokal, thus becoming the first German side ever to win the treble.
You have to create a home, away and/or european kit each commemorating their treble win. Or you can redesign the Borussia Dortmund logo also commemorating their treble.
Rules for kits:
- Kit may be made by manufacturer of your choice
- Kit must be sponsored by their current kit sponsor Evonik
- Home and away kits should have Bundesliga badges on the sleeves
- European kit should have Champions League and Respect badges on the sleeves
- Home kit should have a yellow top, black shorts and yellow socks
- Away and European kits are completely free design but the European kit should have the Champions league patches on the sleeves
Rules for crests:
- Crest should be based of current crest
- Should have some sort of commemoration for the treble (Champions League, German League, German Cup)
The competition will end December 24th, when I will pick the best of each of the following categories:
1. Home Kit
2. Away Kit
3. European Kit
4. Goalkeeper Kit
5. Crest
Good Luck!
UPDATE: Winners announced!
The best crest goes to Rabbi with his simple design that while is based on the current badge utilizes the three trophies that Dortmund would have to win for them to win the treble. Well done.
The best goalkeeper kit goes to Taggo with a very nice modern design.
The third/euro kit was a tough decision but the winner is Matte1897 with a very unique red/white design. A great kit.
The away kit winner is Myki I really liked the black with grey stripes, excellent choice with the colors and overall a great kit.
Finally the home kit winner. There were a few home kits that really stood out. But in the end there could only be one winner and it is Matte1897 with this plain, simple but very realistic design. Excellent work!
Thanks everyone for entering there were many excellent kits but unfortunately only four could be winners (plus a crest).

It is hot news that Roma ended the deal with kappa and are currently looking for a new kit maker. With this competition you are all invited to propose your ideas for new kit/brand combinations.
You can send in as many kits as you like of home away and third kind. Every kit will have to carry the logo of an existing brand so no fantasy brands sorry. Sponsor on shirt must be the current one (WIND )
I (1kitdesigner) will decide winner for all categories and honorable mentions soon after the competition is over.
Deadline for entering your contributions is December 9.
Happy designing everybody.
ps I might send in my designs but i will not compete of course.
IMPORTANT UPDATE COMPETITION DEADLINE MOVED TO DECEMBER 16
competition is now closed winning kits will be announced soon
UPDATE
before i announce the winners i'd like to say that im glad that this became a popular competition, with 90 entries, and a high average design quality.
Therefore i'd like to thank all participants for their effort and congratulate them for their good designs.
Unfortunately i have to pick winners and runner ups and this will leave most of people out and i apologize for this.
Best Home kit:
presentation played a part in this outcome but i have liked the smart simplicity of the kit even if black color on home shirt is not well received among Roma fans.
Best home kit runner ups:
Best Away kit:
It is an original enough reinterpretation of an away kit from the 90 s by adidas, well done, the shorts maybe are not at the shirt s level in terms of design.
Best Away kit runner ups:
Best Third kit:
It looks as retro as it wants to with the use of the central hoop and the restilyzed crest De Rossi is not nr 10!
Best Third Kit runner ups:
Thanks everybody again

Here's a comp with a difference, a stadium design comp.
Go download Trimble SketchUp and get involved. Details and model are here - http://tinyurl.com/newstjames
I'm running it concurrently here and on the 3Dwarehouse, so 3D models should be published there, but post images and ideas here too.
Newcastle United are unable to expand the current St. James Park due to a combination of listed buildings and underground metro structures. This site very close to the current ground has just been cleared and is a potential site for a new stadium. The stadium should seat at least 60,000 with room to expand if needed. Car parking is a must due to the ground's city centre location. The location is in the file, so download. The boundary of the site is in green and the main exit areas back to the city centre are in red.
Comp closes on 5th Nov.
UPDATE: Comp closes on Sunday 2nd Dec at 2359.Twitter - @NewStJamesPark
WINNER WINNING TIME: I liked the few designs that were entered but I loved the Woo_Sports idea of the Tyne-Bridge-like arch to frame the sky line of Newcastle. For that reason, he is the winner. Well done all.

OK,Closed for real. Delayed announcement of the winners since there were few entries
Best Home kit: Martin127 - A really classic design, with a few subtle touches that make it look like it's from nowadays.
Best Away kit: Fenton - Easily best kit of the competition. An amazing and unusual design, that could easily be seen as a realistic design too.
Best 3rd kit: giannakakis - The most straightforward of all the 3rd shirt entries to have been posted, nice colours and a simple design.
Congratulations to all for entering.

Inspired by other comp (European Selection Football Team Kit Design Competition), I (Rey) decided to create a similar comp but for South America.
The kit can be of the colour that you want, you can create Home, Away and Third Kit. You can use any brand. Also, you can create a new crest.
Good luck and happy design!
The comp will be closed the 31st October at 23:59.
Update: now the competition is closed, so I'll take some days (until Saturday) to announce the winners. Good luck!
Winners: For the home kit, it was dificult to choose because South America hasn't an especific colour, but finally, I choose CiaranW90's home kit as the winner.
For the away kit, I think the best is giannakakis' away kit.
Special mentions: Woo-Sport's, fabri_do's and matupeco's home kits are really amazing, but there are to "unusual" for professional football; MartinLeRoy's badge about a Europe - S. America Challenge is a great idea; and finally, all football team needs a crest, and I think the best idea is the JCPierola's idea

Inspired by Europe's thrilling victory over the USA in the Ryder Cup over the weekend, this competition is to design the kit (Home, Away, Third, goalkeeper and whatever else you can think of), including shirt, shorts and socks and, if you see fit, baselayers, for a European select team which could be assembled to take on Brazil, Argentina or other continents' select XIs. It's just for fun and it's obviously in no way affiliated to Uefa.
That said, Uefa has agreements with adidas so it may be best to go with them as manufacturer but it's all entirely up to you. One fun element might be choosing the names to put on the backs of the shirts!
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries - if such things exist - are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.
The competition will close at 23:59 on Saturday 13th October 2012 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.
Happy designing!
Jay29ers.
Update - 18/10/2012: The competition is now closed. Please accept my apologies for the delay - it does look like a couple of designs sneaked in after the closing date!
As always, some brilliant entries and a hugely difficult competition to judge. Here's what I've gone with...
Rey's Home design was very bold but imagining it as a manufactured kit conjured up a true statement of intent. It was a hard one to choose due to the great designs but that's what I settled upon.
VR71 came very close with his Home kit so I couldn't overlook his Away too. A brilliant adidas design, featuring a dot matrix map of Europe as a watermark on the front and an inspired use of the European flag to border the number on the back. Simply superb.
Cris Lima had to get a look in for his wonderful designs all round and the goalkeeper kit was beautifully subtle whilst still being modern. He had a lovely idea with the anti-racism captain's armband too.
Cris Lima also put together a great crest for the team. There were some worthy competitors in this regard but his was simple and memorable. A very nice effort.
Honourable mentions have to go to mr.safc for putting together a kit that would probably most accurately reflect the real design that would get made for such an event, and squidofman for his wonderful ideas of how each player could remind the world of which European country they represented. We've seen something like that before in the Spain comp but it works well here too.
Well done to everyone, and look out for new competitions coming your way.

FC Barcelona Senyera (Catalan Flag) 2013-14 Away Kit Design Competition (closed)

Barça will wear the colours of the Senyera (the national flag of Catalunya/Catalonia) as an Away kit in the 2013-14 season.
This competition is to design the kit, including shirt, shorts and socks and, if you see fit, baselayers. It's just-for-fun, and it's in no way affiliated to FC Barcelona or Nike.
It's probably best to keep this one authentic, so Nike as manufacturer, The Qatar Foundation as main sponsor and Unicef as secondary sponsor. Everything else is up to you.
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.

Update - 23/9/12: The competition is now closed. News of winner(s) to follow.
Update - 30/9/12: I have now picked my winner...
This was a tough one. There were some fabulous entries, several of the best - such as Woo-Sport and matupeco's designs - taking a leftfield approach and introducing a third colour as the dominent one, and it worked.
That's not to say the standard red and gold versions were inferior. mbingcrosby's Salvador Dalí-styled approach, for example. was a wonderful concept and one Nike could do much worse than consider for their final offering.
There were, of course, those who used artistic licence to replace the Senyera with the Estelada to create an independence-geared kit. CiaranW90's submission was inspired, if unlikely.
But for the winner I've plumped for a design that features the four red stripes on gold, faithful to the flag. Steevo flirted with the controversial too but on his more conservative version we'll excuse the dalliance into five stripe territory (or does three add two halves make four?) along the cleverly executed shoulders and instead judge him on the beautifully and no doubt painstakingly-created design as a whole. With the stripes echoing the "dotted gradient" seen on the current kits, the attention to detail is fantastic and after years of counterfeit designs whetting our appetites for a classic shirt, Steevo has delivered something that surely all Blaugrana fans would be satisfied with. Especially if they could get those Estelada change shorts under the counter at the club shop...

The FA has announced that the England kit will be made by Nike from Spring 2013 onwards.
This competition is to design new England kits - Home, Away, Third(?), goalkeeper shirts, shorts, socks, baselayers and anything else you can think of - bearing the Nike Swoosh.
For obvious reasons all entries should have Nike as manufacturer but everything else is up to you. Full coloured or red crest? White, red or navy shorts and socks? Bring back the red Away? Anything goes, though a level of authenticity may work best and don't forget that next year marks the 150th Anniversary of The FA so this may be worth incorporating into designs.
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.
The competition will close at 23:59 on Saturday 15th September 2012 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.

Update - 21/9/2012: The competition winner has been chosen. Not by me, but actually a truer expert, Glen Isherwood of the fantastic England Football Online and author of Wembley: The Complete Record 1923-2000. EFO has compiled a catalogue of every shirt ever worn by England, so Glen knows a thing or two about what makes a great Three Lions kit.
He, in turn, also enlisted the help of his 18-year-old daughter "who has no interest in football whatsoever", for a wholly objective viewpoint. Over to the judges...
"First of all, some honourable mentions:
CiaranW90's Track Tops - these really stand out and the badges sit well against the white and purple backgrounds.
Woo-Sport's all white with red cross - reminiscent of the Olympic kits and good use of red.
Eman's blue away kit - loved the shade of blue, goes well with the badge and looks traditional, even though we haven't worn that shade for decades.
arius85's red away kit - very smart look, with blue crew-neck and cuffs.
arius85's all-green goalkeeper kit - the two shades of green look terrific
But in the end, I had to go for...
mr.safc's white home kit - a stunning modern tribute to the original 1872 kit.
I particularly like the full-colour badge with gold scroll, the navy socks and the diamond motif below the neckline. It's got just the right combination of tradition and the modern minimalist style that has proved so popular in the past three years. I think that this would be a worthy successor to the current home kit."
Huge thanks to Glen (and his daughter) for helping us out. Congratulations to mr.safc!

Arsenal adidas Kit Competition (closed)

As you may have heard, there is a strong likelihood that the Arsenal FC's kit will be made by adidas as of either 2013-14 or 2014-15 so this competition is to design new Gunners kits that the German manufacturer would be proud of.
For obvious reasons all entries should have adidas as manufacturer but everything else is up to you. Home, Away, Third, goalkeeper kits are all welcome, with any style of crest, number font and any sponsor, though a level of authenticity may work best.
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.
The competition will close at 23:59 on Saturday 8th September 2012 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.
Happy designing!

Update - 9/9/12: The competition is now closed. Details of winner(s) to follow.
Update - 12/9/12: It's about time the winners of this competition were announced. To help choose I enlisted my twitter sparring partner, regular True Colours contributor, owner/manager of Pride In The Jersey and Cork City Kits and DF member Denis Hurley (denishurley), who is also, handily, an Arsenal fan.
True to form, we couldn't agree on all the selections so we settled on him choosing a Home kit, me an Away and then we did actually see eye-to-eye on the Third/one-off kit.
Denis went with Steevo's 1988-90-referencing Home kit. He ignored my protestations that a true '88 retread should have more blue on the shorts - and red socks - and instead was seduced by the undeniably brilliant compromise crest. A worthy winner there.
For the Away, this might be a controversial choice but I plumped for another retro effort, arius85's green and navy number. Yes, the 1982-83 kit it references was abandoned early due to its unpopularity, but that design has now passed into Gooner folklore and arius85 did a brilliant job updating it.
Denis and I did come to the collective conclusion that Corstorph's redcurrant and gold design had to be included, simply because it took the hugely popular Nike kit of 2005-06 and gave it an adidas twist in an original way. That said, when and why it would be thrown into action over a season, perhaps as a Third kit, was beyond us.
So well done to the winners and everyone who entered. It was a hugely difficult competition to judge because the standard was, again, so high. Now we'll have to see if there actually is truth in the rumours and, if so, what adidas come up with in reality...

Liverpool Name & Number Font Competition (closed)

Here's something slightly different...
You may have noticed that Liverpool FC are still using the bespoke name and number font that adorned their kits in 2010-11 and 2011-12 in Europe and some cup games. Whilst it is not an adidas design, it's my opinion that it seemed to fit very well with the style of those kits and now less so with the new Warrior versions.
So this is a competition to design a new printing set for Liverpool FC's kits. This should include 26 letters (possibly with the addition of apostrophe and smaller letters for the Dutch "v(an)" and the Scottish/Irish "M(a)c") and 10 digits, in one, two, three or more colours, depending on how many kits (including goalkeeper) each colourway can be used on. Ideally you should depict the fonts applied to the respective kits.

There were only a few entries in this competition but several demonstrated that Liverpool would be far better off with a name and number font which was specifically allocated/designed to be worn with the new Warrior kits.
It was close but I decided that Steevo's design was the best suited.
The font used was slightly softer than the one currently carried and that worked well with the more classic design of the new kits - especially the Home. Also, his use of both white and yellow/gold on the font for the Home shirt meant that it kept to the tradition of having white numbers whilst also linking to the yellow/gold details - particularly in the Liver Bird which was depicted in the same colour as on the chest.
Well done everyone who entered and congratulations to Steevo.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima - Kit Competition (closed)

Sanfrecce Hiroshima Sanfrecce are one of the founding members of the J-League, and have a long history prior to its formation. Founded as the Mazda Works team, they were the first undefeated champions of Japan, and won the league six times before the foundation of the J-League.
The name Sanfrecce is a Portmanteau of the Japanese word San, meaning three, and the Italian Frecce, meaning arrows. The name comes from a story in which a lord told his three sons to break an arrow each. They did easily. Then the Lord gave each son three arrows bound together, and asked them to do the same. They found it far harder. He then told his sons that three arrows together were far stronger than one arrow, and this convinced the sons to work together for the good of the clan.
Rules of the competition –
• All kits must have the Crest of Sanfrecce Hiroshima on the shirt
• All kits must have the Nike logo on the shirt, socks and shorts
• All kits must have the Mazda logo on the shirt (the HQ of the company is in Hiroshima)
• All kits must have the player number on the back of the shirt, the shorts and on the front of the shirt.
• All kits must have a player name above the number.
Sanfre play in Purple/Violet for the home, and for the away, they did play in white or grey, but as of recently, they have started to play in pink, the colour of the official flower of Hiroshima.
At the end of the competition, all the entries will be judged and marked out of 15. This will be undertaken for both the home and away kits. The competition will start on the 15th August, and will finish on the 1st Sept.
Good Luck!
Update - 3/9/2012: The competition is now CLOSED. Marks will be given shortly.
Update - 22/10/2012: It took some time due to unforeseen circumstances but Spider's results are in...
I've finished the marking, and selected two winners.Best home kit was erikwinterburn's entry, the chevron and the watermarked flowers impressed me.The best change kit was the incredible origami entry by matupeco, one of the best shirt concepts and designs I've seen on this site.Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who entered. Check your designs for your marks out of 15.
