I reckon teams should get rid of traditional GK kits and just have 4-5 kits that can be used by both outfield players and keepers. Home should always be kept purely for outfield players though. It'd work so well, some teams have already done it in the past (like Juve and Marseille) so why not more? England's current GK would be amazing as an away kit. - Steevo

In the mid-70s, red shorts were used by Arsenal as a change set, while on Boxing Day 1970 they were worn to avoid an overall clash with the snow-coloured pitch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XarZj2eehc - denishurley

Yeah, that's probably what Denis Hurley would refer to as a "overall clash".

In fact, there are a couple of examples of Arsenal wearing different coloured shorts - I think red once - with the Home shirt in the 70s/80s. He may pop along to confirm... - Jay29ers

I always remember a time - back in the 1980s when Liverpool wore their home shirt with white pin stripes and they were playing away at Watford and they wore red shirts, black shorts and yellow socks. It was the only time I ever saw Liverpool wear red but without red shorts and socks. Probably still a colour clash against a Watford side who wore yellow shirts, red shorts ad socks at the time. Likewise, as the you say, you never see Arsenal, now or in the past, wearing their home kit with say red shorts. Yet Man Utd have always been happy to wear black shorts with their home shirts when playing away. - BaddersTUFC

Must everything be so black and white with you? Your article's obviously fabulous, it's just that I don't agree with all of it. - Jay29ers
