The moment you've been waiting for is finally here. We are very pleased to announce that the winner of our competition to design a Nike kit for Poland is Antonio Bordallo with his "Białe Orły" design.
From top to bottom (and certainly front to back) this kit holds originality and classic style in spades and every area gave the judges something to get excited about.
Firstly, the front of the shirt is bold, simple but incredibly effective. We saw the Polish flag being incorporated in some form by the vast majority of the entries but we particularly liked how this design's bar effect also combined well with the centred crest, loyal to the flag's impression but also to modern design. This coat of arms is positioned similarly when the flag is used for official events so, whilst centred crests aren't for everybody, this kept an element of national authenticity that appeals. The crest perhaps seems a little higher than is standard but it works and going against the grain is what helps design to evolve.
The use of ecru brings originality. An extra splash of colour did wonders for the most recent Holland kit and it that works here too. On the edging on the sleeves - nicely tempered with the red, on the shirt's Swoosh and, particularly, on the socks the Poland kit is modernised with care and sophistication. Traditionalism is not dispensed with but simply adapted to allow for an injection of new ideas.
Which takes us to the superb reverse. On the back of the simple red v-neck we find the reference to the team's nickname and an understated use of the "wing" logo that so many designers used. Lovely details added but carried out with restraint to not take away from the rest of the shirt and the wonderful wycinanki panel. This is a tradition I certainly wasn't aware of prior to being involved in the judging of these designs and something that in this way, in a light grey rather than a watermark, puts a clear but not overbearing twist on the overall effect.
So there it is, a triumph for Antonio. A great kit and that's without even mentioning the asymmetrical red stitching on the right sleeve, the flag design on the socks and the large Swoosh on the rear of the shorts (don't worry, we loved those parts too). Congratulations.

Now, as much as we adored Antonio's design we shouldn't forget the other entries. When the kits were being uploaded and also first shown to our guest judges (I could tell you who they are but I'd have to shoot you afterwards) there was a mixture of delight, excitement and - for some - nervousness. The final decision was far from easy. So many different styles, approaches and standpoints but in so many cases the result is superb. So let's big-up some selected designs that came very close.
Firstly, Feyeno0rd. Believe me, it took a great design to beat you and, at least for me personally, you were the frontrunner for a long time. Your shirt design is classy, fashionable (You could definitely imagine it in a fitted size worn with a pair of jeans) and I loved the subtle reference to the old adidas shirts in the watermark and the nod to the flag in the v-neck. Wonderful and so close. Maybe next time.
Fido, loved everything you did. So modern with a completely different approach to the winning kit and in keeping with the figurehugging ergonomic sportswear of recent times. Loved the numbers too. Look forward to seeing much more from you.

Amadeus Angellilo. Nice kits but we were particularly taken with the numbers. Lovely. Sporting-Id may be keeping an eye. Keep 'em coming and the rhombus platform is very interesting too - albeit perhaps without the doubling up "bikini" effect ;)

TRIPERO22 and jmmn (and others), nice classy use of vertical stripes. Works well. cjensen11 put it perfectly with "me encanta esta camisa - especialmente el diseno de las fundas" Couldn't agree more (I like the shirt too, and especially the design of the sleeves too. So there! Being third generation Spanish occasionally comes in handy).

sjchichizola, We like the adapting of the Dutch shirt

musama91, We love the presentation style and want to see lots more. Great kits, beautifully put together and I'm sure the River Plate/Peru debate will go on forever. The black kits were also superb and you certainly have a way with shorts.
Finally: matupeco, certainly in the running. We liked the diagonal chest design.

THANK YOOOOOUU!!!
First of all, thank you for all the comments above and I must say that I consider it not a victory of a single person, but of the Brazilian and Latin American design. We are still on the struggle to get our space in the major brands, that insist in develop their designs ONLY IN EUROPE OR USA and impose them for the whole world, not paying much attention for the local way. It's still changing a lil (with the Nike kits details) , but the designs keeps being developed only in Europe or USA...We need latin american talents designing for latin american teams!
It´s okay that in this case is a brazilian guy that studies in a Fashion School in Rio de Janeiro that designed a kit for the Poland national team, that he has any connections at all, but this is the real thing of the globalization. And it proves that anyone, anywere in the world is able to develop it. Not only the european or american-based ones.
I will not comment about the difficulties of living using a wheelchair, but you should consider also that it did not changed anything on my potential, despite of the difficulty that I get to find a job or a simple internship in the sportswear market.

Actually I'm still not believing much because on the last post about it on FSC they said that "the designer will be contacted by email", and so far...noting. they also said that "The winning design will be announced on Sunday (21/12/0
" and as long it was posted on FSC, I still guess it should be confirmed by them, and so far..nothing. so , even it been shown very concrete, I still dont believe it´s true, heheeh (please staff, contact me)
in my blog I published a long post about this. Talking about my impressions, why I did this and not that, and such...unfortunately it´s in portuguese but those who understand a lil spanish can get the sense of it.
if interesed, just check it here

Im from Poland and I know what Polish fans like and dislake. We hate organization PZPN (corruption in this organization is very often)! Pleas don"t give this logo on kits !!! Sorry but gold socks is bad idea... Poland colors is white and red , when we must change color we choose navy-blue or black !
