Manchester City FC have submitted planning application for a proposed youth development and first team training centre.

The Club has today submitted a planning application following a six-week period of public consultation with local residents, fans and other interested parties, for a proposed youth development and first team Academy in the Openshaw West area of East Manchester.

The Club’s exhibition, which showcases the proposals and was a central component to the public consultation, attracted in excess of 7000 visitors online and in person and revealed a 97% approval rating from respondents. Opinions of the residents of East Manchester helped to shape the Club's planning application, the completion of which is expected towards the end of the year.

The proposed development of up to 80 acres of brown field land diagonally opposite to the Etihad Stadium and acquired by the Club over the past two years, would, should planning permission be granted, form part of the Etihad Campus as announced in early July this year.

The Club is pleased to release new visual images of the proposed facility, which form part of the application submitted to Manchester City Council and which are available for public viewing from today.

Forest Pitch Arts Project

Craig Coulthard’s Forest Pitch arts project will create a full-size football pitch hidden within a forest. Commercial trees felled to make space for the pitch will be used to create goalposts, a shelter and other infrastructure on site.

In summer 2012 Forest Pitch will host two football matches. The participating players will be made up of amateurs from across Scotland, who have taken up British citizenship since 2000. Spectators of the games will be members of local communities and schools, the players' families and people involved in producing the event; a significant number of tickets will be made available to the general public. The intervals between matches will be filled with performances and music forming a unique sporting and artistic event.

The Montreal Impact unveiled its new logo, Saturday at Saputo Stadium, making another step towards its entry into Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2012.

“Today, we are writing a new page in our history,” said Montreal Impact team president Joey Saputo. “This logo is more than just a logo, it’s a symbol of our engagement towards every soccer fan in Quebec. This new logo is primarily our supporters’ logo. I truly believe that Montreal can become the biggest soccer market in North America.”

Pigeon*, who created the last version of the logo (2002 to 2011), also worked on the concept of the new club emblem with a basic premise: a new traditional look.

“The new Impact identity conveys the club’s evolution towards another major level of soccer,” explained Olivier Chevillot, creative director for Pigeon* branding + design. “The new logo is more sophisticated, modeled around renowned international clubs. We are proud of our participation in the development of this major league symbol.”

New Beerschot AC Crest

This the brand new club crest for Belgian Jupiler Pro League club Beerschot AC.

If you've not heard of that name before then you are forgiven as they've only recently changed names from the former 'Germinal Beerschot'. Before the change Germinal Beerschot was an amalgamation of the teams 'K Beerschot VAC' and 'KFC Germinal Ekeren' which merged in 1999, merging everything from logos and team colours.

New ŁKS Łódź Crest

This the new club crest for Polish First Division side ŁKS Łódź or Łódzki Klub Sportowy to give their true Polish name.

ŁKS despite being in the second flight of Polish football were league champions as recently as 1998 and before that in 1958.
