Hi guys,

Just a quick background for you. I am a root admin of Colours-of-Football and have come here to basically be part of a group who similarly to the forum I am already involved in, love kit designs and designing kits themselves!

I notice various members from COF (such as Eleté and Sy) already post here, along with Curswine obviously, who posts on COF aswell.

I'll post a portfolio of some of my best works in a thread once i have settled in and had a better look around the place, but I'd also love your guys support in helping master kit designs in Photoshop format, though not FM type kits.

I currently only do kits on MS Paint, which i absolutely love doing, but the format does limit the professional look that I know is possible through Photoshop (I have CS3).

Anyways, hope to get some responses and get invovled here,
- Stanyer

Hi man, may I be the first to welcome you here.

We don't quite have the community of CoF but hopefully it'll get a bit like that in the future. If you need help with photoshop design I'll be happy to help you with bits and pieces to the best of my ability.

I recommend making an album so people can keep track of all your work better, but posting them in the gallery is a much better way of getting feedback.

Don't totally throw FM template kits out of the window, they're good as a way to practise techniques on to start with, but for me they really don't show any creative talent.

That's the reason I didn't want to bother with FM kits. I know all about them from COF, and they don't really impress me, whilst the concept designs yourself and Eleté are doing, is something I'd be more into. I don't even have a template for PS type kits. Im a paint only guy, though good with photoshop...

I don't know why people are so quick to pounce on the FM style templates at all. I can understand why you get frustrated with people taking the latest Nike PS file, for example, and changing the colours but I dont see how using the actual shirt template is any different from drawing your own.

If anything it looks more realistic than 'home-made' templates and we're not all artists after all. As far as I'm concerned the actual presentation is second to the design idea; how it would look if someone was stood infront of me wearing it - so peoples template preference doesn't bother me.

..and hi! I guess I'm pretty new myself but this forum is so under-used it scares me.

Hello Mr Bolt!

I think the reason is because it is the smallest margin possible of people that do creative designs with FM kits in terms of ratio to people just template colour changing. I see you are original in your designs, it is rare with FM kits!!!

Yeah it looks more realistic but it's less expressive and certainly doesnt have as much credit as starting something practically from blank. That is why FM kits are frowned upon I guess.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. I completely agree.

I do know what you mean, but like I said, we're not all artists. We're not all trying to express ourselves or make a peice of art, we're trying to present an idea in a way which looks as closest to a) how we see it in our heads and b) how it would look in real life. I certainly wouldn't give an idea less credit because the designer hasn't drawn his own T-Shirt.

I dont see a massive problem with people using the FM templates. i find it more annoying when people take images off a site like prodirect and crudely stick logos and badges on them.

i agree with curswine that they can be a good way to start but i think they can get boring.
