I think green is the right choice for the shorts, since it wouldnt look as good all monochromatic. I agree with you on the black details thingy, since it would look odd as a change for the home kit.

fantastic looking bit of work, though I would never pair a black shirt with a pair of green shorts, all black or with white looks more imposing in my view. Numbering on the back is great as well. nice one

It was in the back of my mind to make the shorts interchangable with the home shorts, but for some reason I made the details of the shorts in black so it would just look odd.

I disagree with your point though, all black is often just too much and looks boring, but for this maybe all black would have been ok since their is a lot of green detailing elsewhere.
