Another just for fun competition, running until Sunday 20th May, and then Jay29ers will pick winners.

As you've probably heard, and Jay29ers mentioned in his blog article, Cardiff City's owners considered rebranding the club in red rather than blue and changing the nickname to the Welsh Dragons, also giving them a new crest.

The plan doesn't seem to be going ahead now but we were wondering how it could have been executed, ideally without alienating existing fans.  We'd like to see crests and, most likely, home kits but if you feel that away/third and goalkeeper kits can also help to explain the approach then they'd be great to see too.  Anything goes.

As usual, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.

Update - 21/5/12: The competition is now closed and Jay29ers has picked his winners.

"All the entries were fantastic, many embracing the proposed change wholeheartedly and lots offering a compromise.  For the winners, I sided with the latter, choosing a home shirt which, in replica form at least, could be reversed to be blue if supporters were so inclined.  The implication with matupeco's design was that the blue version could also be classed as a Home shirt and worn both when visiting teams wore red and also when blue were the first choice colours of a visiting team - forcing the visitors to change, i.e. the only team who would be able to wear blue at the Cardiff City Stadium would be Cardiff themselves.

"For the Away kit, although it probably wouldn't work in a set with the reversible Home, I went with Berhane's entry.  Again it could be used in Home matches when required and the hint at The Cross of St David is a nice touch.

"Finally, the crest.  This had to be something that included the Bluebird logo to pay proper tribute to the club's history (and appease the fans) and arius85's did this whilst also including a red dragon and a Welsh daffodil to represent the country."
