well i feel like a stick in the mud tbh, but i'm going to say BP solely because tappei's looks just like the one he submitted last round for Beijing Guoan. Technically it was never used in a match but kinda disappointing you reused it... its a very very good looking template, honestly.

Although I agree with moom I'm still gonna give my vote to Tappei because it's a cool design.

Buttplug - My first look at this kit, I thought it was a PSV kit but after doing some research, I see that Orient have used red & white checks before. The cut of the seems is good, especially across the back of the shoulders and the black piping continues nicely. I just don't think there's enough cohesion in the overall design though.

Tappei - I'm torn. On one hand I'm with Moom that you've been lazy by re-using a design. But I understand you might have been annoyed that your last kit didn't get a match up and you wanted to test it out again. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt here and vote on each kits' merits. I like the addition of the blue, white and yellow on the collar but I had to do my own research to uncover the meaning of this. The shirt has a nice and interesting design but you should have carried this through with the shorts and socks.

Vote - Tappei - Tough choice, but I'd suggest both of you write a description of your kits when you upload to explain why you've included certain things.

EDIT - Just realised that your Beijing kit wasn't the same as this. Ignore my previous comments about re-use.

@Smn Jms Dsn Yeah to be fair, he made a brilliant pair of companion shorts to this but he made them after the fact, so I couldn't let him use them, but I never called him lazy. That's a bit derogatory and I didn't mean to come off like that. Also, I agree that descriptions would be nice, although i'd encourage people to vote regardless of them. All that really matters is if you like it. Even though theres some degree of traditions to adhere to in order for some shirts to be considered 'valid' I think that any prior knowledge of kits used irl or in the past should be abandoned when voting, but only when they're forcing a negative opinion. Like Joe's new boca shirt obvs looks like a drastically different kit from the usual boca ones, but its still pretty cool regardless.
I just dont think anything really ever needs to be explained to win favor, its not like it'll actually make shirts appear different. You either like it or ya dont yk

@moom I agree descriptions would be great. However they aren't included in the match ups.
In previous match up style comps ive seen comments voting against a design based on something that was covered in the description, in an ideal world people would go back to each image but I don't think they do.

@BP Yeah well for reasons I said above, I wouldn't see a point to that. Really if something is going to make or break your submission and it needs to actually be explained, i'd suggest putting it on the image itself, but I think thats rarely the case. but like i also said, i wouldn't blame the creators as much as the voters. its just picking which one you like better and why; theres a few exceptions in my opinion, such as me not choosing the one I favored here because it was already used in the tourney, but its pretty rare that happens.

I really just dont want to see good shirts lose because people hold them to a standard that doesn't matter here. they're fantasy shirts. People are entitled to their vote obviously, but as a competitor and the person running this, seeing votes based on presentation, 'lack' of tradition, or other nonsense is really depressing because its not what this is about at heart.

I always mention it when given the chance haha, but I remember in the Asian Champions League tourney, somebody decided their vote on whether or not the person put the ACL Patch on the arm of their kit. Wasn't against or for my matchup then, but its really shitty tbh, too much time and passion goes into these for them to lose based on things like that.

I base my vote on more than just end result. I like to take into account the ideas behind design as the overall effort put in. From my point of view, understanding a design helps me have a greater appreciation of it. There's much more to a football kit than just pieces of coloured material.

I don't always think designs should be explained, but these two are prime examples. Without conducting my own research, I wouldn't have known why BP's kit contained the checkerboard pattern and I wouldn't have known why Tappei had the Blue, White and Yellow stripe on the collar. Both of these designs had historical context which I like.

Design is subjective, we aren't always going to agree.

If you guys don't like the way I vote by giving feedback and justification, let me know and I'll go back to giving just a one word vote. But I personally I don't like when votes go against me and I have no idea why.

@Smn Jms Dsn That's a good way to decide a vote.
Wasn't aimed at you Smn. Was a reply to Moom but for some reason it jumped to the bottom also cut half my reply off too!
I like your voting, as you say it helps to know what people think

Don't worry, I know that and this is healthy discussion :-)

My comments are only ever based on my personal view so nobody should ever take them too seriously. I only have 1 vote to give just like everyone else (unless you're FJMH/Mumbai...). I think it would be stupid for somebody to alter their design just because they think I might throw my vote their way.
