- Generic Description: Port Adelaide are the most successful club in the South Australian league, with a total 36 premierships. Port Adelaide were one of seven original members of the (SAFA), the first governing body of Australian rules football which was formed in 1877. Port played it's first game in 1878 against the newly established Norwood, which the Redlegs won 1-0. A rivalry between these clubs would soon develop into one of the fiercest in Australian sport.
