Kit Design Tutorial for BeginnersHere

Sometimes our Kit of the Week (KOTW) stages have a little twist, and the 261st was the 11th “Challenge” stage.

How could a little spice be added to a Villarreal Club de Fútbol kit design contest? How could things be mixed up for “El Submarino Amarillo” (The Yellow Submarine)?

Yes, of course, yellow wasn’t allowed. Intriguingly, Home shirts were [it] allowed despite the restriction, but we don’t think anyone billed their entry as a first-choice release.

It did seem, however, that TNKdesign didn’t get the memo, turning the distinctive “V” from the crest, in the proscribed colour, into the main graphic of the garment. Ineligible once it came to the vote, we’re still glad we got to see it.

Those that did make it to the final reckoning included a patterned masterpiece from DlszDesign, NSGraphics’ beautiful iridescence-bedecked creation, some pure class from Saintetixx - deep breath - a gradient-based number from cukun, a shirt featuring an interesting take on hoops from Corinth and, winning out, a Joma-branded nod to a pattern being marketed by the Spanish La Liga club’s sponsor Pamesa Cerámica.

That entry from Sithuralom saw tones of blue brilliantly combined with pink detailing and, by a nose, gave a contest with a difference a worthy winner.

@Skyebaggieno team would. it's a concept
Cool design, sorry to be that person though, but AC Milan would never have the Italianate version of the city name written on their shirt.
Nice design SB. Love what you've done with the stripes.
