Gradually, Saudi football club Al Hilal Saudi Football Club are working their way into the global public consciousness.
The current champions of Saudi Arabia’s Roshn Saudi League, Al Hilal - or “AlHilal” or “Alhilal” or “Al-Hilal” - have an increasingly identifiable blue look and that was the clay the members had to work with in the 264th stage of the Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge.
The approaches for designing a Blue Waves’ concept shirt were varied, with the likes of giannakakis going for the relatively understated - despite the very curious neck - and others, like fayed, making things a lot louder.
cukun incorporated sand dunes, to great effect, while Al Hilal’s Riyadh home was honoured in the Kingdom Centre stylings of CBDesign12’s brilliant entry - that genius crest feature could easily be applied to the side’s new badge as well - and the stage was eventually won with a gorgeous starry-night-sky-based submission from NSGraphics.
That’s the way the voting went, but it was certainly the case, as it often is, that there were some gems that didn’t figure highly once it came to the crunch. Once again, the depth of the stage was remarkable, and we were blessed to host it.
