Owing to relegation, Unione Sportiva (US) Cremonese will play in Italy’s Serie B in 2023-24, and this time of year we often get preoccupied with what-might-have-beens, including in terms of playing wear.
It provides an excuse to look back at Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge stages from past months, like the Grigiorossi’s.
As always, there was an impressive range of styles. Notably, Kevski77 gave the side, in a manner of speaking, a bespoke Nike number, and giannakakis a lovely animal-striped creation that nods to the Lombardy-based club’s “Le Tigri” nickname.
But, when it came to the voting, emmegraphic came out on top. That particular entry didn’t go light on the Cremonese specifics but is also steeped in reality, bearing the branding of IRL supplier Acerbis. Bringing the outgoing Nice kit to mind a little, the famous grey and red is deployed with gradients, two-tone stripes and white trim, and even the square for the number to sit on on the reverse is beautifully decorated with sublimated insignia.
Accomplished. The congratulations to the designer are well deserved.
