Whenever an African side pops up in the Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge, we know we’re in for a treat, and that’s how it was in the Mamelodi Sundowns stage.
The DStv Premiership champions (it’s been a while since they were last not champions of South Africa) often have bold designs and that stereotype of football in the Mother Continent also applies to so many of our entries.
fayed cheekily submitted not one, not two, but three designs - though the voting had to take their first answer - and the styling of each is unquestionably very distinct and very imaginative, and kReator put together an entry that somehow manages to be understated and classic while also exuding the liveliness of African patterning.
And that vibrance certainly wasn’t MIA on Corinth’s winning design. A Puma-branded beauty that would surely work as an IRL Third shirt for “The Brazilians”.
As we say, it was a treat.
