The Auckland Kingz (the \'z\' at the end of the name was to avoid a clash with another Australian team) were founded in 1999, and played in the Australian NSL until its dissolution in 2004. For the new A-League, their name was changed to the New Zealand Knights. They lost their FIFA competition licence in 2007 and dissolved, being replaced by the Wellington Phoenix.
Having recently been in Auckland I wondered whether there was a local pro soccer (as \'Football\' means Rugby to Kiwis) team. Upon my return, I found out about the Kingz and wondered what it would be like if the name was ressurected with the colours of the Auckland Rugby team and without the annoying Z.
