The Hawthorns is the highest professional football ground in England. To a team from London or any other low lying town or city, it must seem like playing in the sky. You just added the 'e' to confuse us. :o

Actually I believe the Hawthorns is the highest football ground in Britain-all the Scottish ones are on the coast or in the glens! It's not so much O2 you need but a good warm scarf!

I wouldn't know about Scottish grounds. Turf Moor is the eleventh highest ground in England and Wales.
There is a stadium in England that is 138 feet higher than The Hawthorns, it once had an 'official' crowd of 102,569.

From my pub quiz knowledge, I can only think of Buxton being higher but that never had a crowd that big so please receive me of my ignorance.

Odsal stadium Bradford. The 1954 challenge cup final replay was played there on the following wednesday. Warrington beat Halifax 8-4. Most who were there say the real crowd was probably closer to 120,000.

I forgot about up on wild and windy moors. My knowledge is now complete, as for my wisdom......... Turf Moor away end is the coldest I've been at a football match!

@Skyebaggie The old Bee Hole end was cold. There used to be a colliery right behind that end of the ground.
My first ever game at Turf Moor was at home to your Baggies, including the great Jeff Astle. I just realised it was shortly before the cup final against Everton.

Talking about edge of the moors. The Watersheddings - home of Oldham RLFC - was 770 ft above sea level. The last game played there was in 1997.
I bet Buxton RFC is at least 200 feet above that.

BTW, I like the super hero cape effect on the shoulders of this concept kit. Although the 70's kits are the ones I grew up with I like the Albion "Barcode" kit of the 90's best. Going to prove you can do something different with stripes.

I got that cape effect by moving a chevron has high as possible. Perhaps if I'd curved it slightly it would have looked better. It was totally unplanned.
I like the early 70's broad stripe kit with buttoned collar, white shorts and navy socks.

the high chevron works for me. These days I prefer more white to navy but not as in the all white shirt Addidas gave us (and all red for Southampton), that was just lazy in my opinion. If they had tied it into the '68 cup shirt they might have got away with it.

That shirt always reminded me of Tony Brown. I didn't realise he was from Oldham. Perhaps that prepared him for the rarified air of West Bromwich. Great player!

@Oakleighman Bomber played in a great team. Brian Robson, Willie Johnson, Johnny Giles............
